New Look and Process

Hello everyone! I’m sure you noticed if you followed along before now, but for those who didn’t - this marks the start of my brand new website on Squarespace! After some time frustrating myself over the last website engine I was working on, I decided to finally make the leap and go for something more professional and consistent. With the release of Pushing Daises coming up on September 30th (my birthday), I thought it would be best to do this now.

I also finalized my developmental editing services with a fresh contract and proper pricing! With that, I am open for business with a fresh schedule! If you are an author looking to have your manuscript combed over for a dev edit, feel free to check out the page and send an inquiry my way. I’d love to see if we would be a good fit to work together. If you have any questions prior to inquiry, please feel free to reach out to me via email.

With that all out of the way, I want to say how I am excited to finally release Pushing Daisies. This poetry chapbook has been a thorn in my side for a few years now, nagging me to finally do something with it. It was a rough and deeply personal project, but pushing it towards production and print, I can finally let it go and hopefully reach people who felt alone in the process of complicated grief. There are some content warnings on the product page for those who are uncomfortable with topics of abuse and neglect. While nothing is ever explicitly detailed in the poems, I felt it safe to add that warning just in case.

One last bit of business I’d like to talk about is publishing. As you may notice on the home page, there is mention to publishing along with my writing and editing. While right now, this is mainly to publish my own works, I do have some lofty goals into the future. Overtime, I hope to build myself up into the publishing sphere of the literary world and turn Mies Wright Studio into a publishing house that publishes voices usually silenced or rejected by major publishing gatekeepers. Everyone deserves to have their voice and story told as they intend it. The world needs more variety to narratives as well. Hopefully one day, I will help facilitate that. But for now, that is currently just a dream while I process my work.

That is all I have for now, but keep an eye out for new updates, short stories, and more here!

From my pen to you,

Mies Wright
